At the end of April my dad retired from the Canyon County Police Department after 20 years of working in Patrol and later taking over as the Captain of the Forensic Lab. They surprised my dad by naming the lab after him. He specialized in fingerprinting and it is amazing what fingerprints can be taken off of. (wood, leaves, ice cubes, etc.) After years of training thru classes all around the country including the FBI accademy in VA, he became one of the top forensic scientists in Idaho and had articles published in national forensic magazines and books. We are so proud of you dad!!
The kids had fun looking at fingerprints. Carson' grandpa turned off the lights and had a red light to see the fibers that are on our clothes which proves that a criminal always leaves and takes away fibers at the crime scene.
Now what do you do after retiring? How about a two year mission to Russia! And to top it off David's parents are leaving a month after in September to Australia on a mission!! We are so happy for both of them but will miss having grandparents around!

All the family including my sister from Indiana hid in the forensic garage and surprised my dad when he was coming in for work .
Carson did a report at school on forensic science and had my dad be a guest speaker.

I sure am gonna miss them!!
What a cool dad you have! :) And your boys are so cute! It's sad...I've never met the two little ones. The last time I saw you was Mark's reception. Cute family.
Congrats to your Dad! That's really amazing. This is one of the reasons I love blogs--I never would have known about this otherwise! Now, if only we could get the whole family together one last time before your parents head to Russia...:)
what an honor! that is so cool. I can't believe both sets of parents will be gone at the same time. you should come here for Christmas!!! Good post!
